Addition Shield LEDx3

The Addition Shield LEDx3 is a board with 3 LEDs: red, yellow, and green, arranged in a column like traffic lights. It also includes the necessary current-limiting 330 Ohms resistors and the headers to connect to the Tinusaur main board. It is ideal for extending the functionality of your Tinusaur kit.

IMPORTANT: To use this shield board, you must also have a Tinusaur main board, as it is mounted on top of it.

  • The Addition Shield LEDx3 is suitable for 5th to 12th-grade students.
  • Assembling the board takes between 20 and 30 minutes.

The Shield LEDx3 board is mounted on top of the Tinusaur main board. You could use the 3 LEDs in a custom project for building a traffic lights system. The LEDs are connected to the I/O ports PB0, PB1, and PB2 of the ATtiny85 microcontroller.

Activities

(1) Assembling the Shield LEDx3 board and learning the basics of soldering, where and how to place electronic components on the PCB, what polarity is, and how to comply with it.

(2) Electrical circuit. Learn how the resistor, LED, and power source are connected and what are the applicable laws of physics – electricity in particular.

(3) Input/Output Ports. Learn how to use the input/output ports of the ATtiny85 microcontroller by using the 3 LEDs connected to the PB0, PB1, and PB2.

Resources

Guides
We prepared very detailed instructions for assembling and using all the boards and other items in the kit. They are available in PDF and other formats.

Video
For some of the boards and other items, we also produced detailed instructions and other helpful materials in a video format, available on YouTube or our website.

Docs & Specs
Additional resources such as specifications, technical descriptions, sample programs, and other useful materials are available on our website.

Development Environment
We created the Blocktinu, developed specifically for the Tinusaur boards, allowing you to create programs using blocks (similar to Scratch) and directly in the C language.
